Something For The Weekend
Every Wednesday each of our selectors picks five bits of weekend entertainment stuff and, umm, tells you about it. We’ve taken the drudgery out of shopping, which, lets face it, is generally rubbish with the walking and looking for things and carrying them home and that. With Something For The Weekend you just have to click on things and do paying and that – a uniformed flunky will then, at some point, bring you your things and give them to you and you’ll go sink into the comfort of your sofa and have some of that fun all the Hollywood stars are always banging on about.

Selectors
Some of our selectors wouldn’t know entertainment if it ran up to them and punched them in the throat. Others seem to be pretty good at spotting the overlooked classics, the coming legends and other things that make them feel all special. Stick with us and decide who your favourite selector is then bookmark that badboy and you shall forever be spared the hell of having to play something Russell likes.

Why Wednesdays?
You’re sat in the office trying to simultaneously stare at the fit bird/bloke, drown out the incessant self-important phone-based business chatter, scratch yourself and find something more interesting to do. But it’s Wednesday – there isn’t anything more interesting to do. Worse, you’re not going out tonight, no that’s reserved for Thursday at best – nobody goes out on a Wednesday, that’s CRAZY TALK, and you’re far enough away from the last weekend to be right down in the dumps. Wednesdays are shit. But! Ahh! There’s one redemption in a Wednesday – it is weekend-fun internet order D-Day. Whatever you order off the intermaweb on a Wednesday is probably going to arrive on Friday. Which is sodding ace because it’s neither too early (reminding you of all the days still remaining in which to be corporate and bored) nor too late (arrives on a Monday? Madness!). So in many ways Something For The Weekend is your midweek saviour – like the best friend we never had.

About us
We’re just a bunch of old lags off of www.WayoftheRodent.com – mostly thirty-something blokes with kids and wives and that, who like videogames, and filums, and telly and books and even modern tunes. So we pop in here once a week and pull-up five cracking stuffs we reckon might be a laugh for you on your weekend.

Dr Sellout and Tightwad
Dr Sellout is a twat. Honestly – all the stuff he selects is only in there because he’s taken a backhander, is knobbing the PR girl or has been forced to recommend it in order to repay a long-standing gambling debt. Whenever we get jollied-up by publishers we tend to give the resulting tat to Dr Sellout. We had to let him play because he owns the computer we type things on to. He’s an arse. Tightwad on the other hand is both a real person and a champion of the people: his mission in life is to seek out proper tasty bargains and tell you about them. You can’t argue with the value.

Filthy luchre
As a spin-off from our selecting, we make referral fees – which we re-invest in watching, playing, reading and listening to things so you don’t have to. We hope the site makes enough money to pay the upkeep of our games magazine, the aforementioned Rodent. Anything on top of that we’re investing in pork bellies in case the market should take a sudden hula-hoop.

Partners
Rather than get all bogged down with our own stock and then fail miserably to compete on price and ending up looking like homeless people, because of the repossession of our homes, we link our selections to those world-dominating overlords at amazon.co.uk, Play.com, Firebox and a handful of other suppliers. Every time you click through and buy one of our suggestions a fairy dies and turns into a small commission for us. We like amazon because they tend to look after customers well and tend to be proper reasonable on the odd times that they mess up.

So, click through-away and have yourselves some top weekends on us. Erm, not free, but as a result of our heartfelt recommendations.

Cheers,

Rich and Rocky (how gay does that sound?)
